Frenchgate
Christian Centre is centrally placed in the older
part of ‘the village’ of Hampden Park. As a long-established Christian
fellowship, we provide many valuable services to the community around us. Over
a number of years, the fellowship has been challenged to become a ‘Community
Church’. We’ve seen cutbacks in the provision
of ‘social’ services both nationally and locally. Growing poverty and need
is appearing in certain areas of our community, while in other areas,
increasing affluence has failed to meet the basic needs of people who find
that their moral and social lives are crumbling around them. We want our
community to know that they can have reason to hope and find meaning in their
personal and family lives. We believe God wants us to bring the Good News of
Jesus to the people who live and work in Hampden Park. We
also want to help, encourage and support other local ministers, fellowships
and organisations in their work both locally and nationally. As
a fellowship we have already responded to many challenges by restructuring the
way we approach our activities. Although the fellowship has Brethren roots,
the qualities of this style of leadership and worship have been developed by
appointing four part-time staff covering Administration, Pastoral Care, Youth
Work and Outreach to
co-ordinate and oversee the functioning of the fellowship through an Eldership
